The Jaime David Podcast - Episode 10: Rhyme (Writing Analysis)

Welcome to Episode 10 of The Jaime David Podcast! In this episode, I explore my poem “Rhyme”, delving into the art and craft of poetic structure, rhythm, and musicality. This piece examines how rhyme shapes meaning, enhances expression, and influences the way words resonate with listeners and readers. Through “Rhyme,” I reflect on the connection between sound and sense, exploring how carefully chosen words and patterns can elevate poetry and evoke emotion.

This episode features AI-generated voice narration based on my own recordings. Due to my current recording environment and personal limitations, I’ve chosen to use this tool to bring my poetry and stories to life. The AI voice model was trained on my voice and captures my natural tone, pacing, and delivery. It’s still me — enhanced with a bit of technology to help me create and share content consistently. Think of it like using autotune: it’s still the artist, just with some digital assistance. Using AI allows me to bridge the ideas in my head with the stories and poems I want you to hear, ensuring I can continue creating even when recording new episodes is challenging.

In this episode, I reflect on the ways rhyme influences the reader’s experience, enhances the rhythm of language, and connects words in surprising and meaningful ways. “Rhyme” is both a celebration of poetic technique and a meditation on the power of sound to convey feeling, meaning, and artistic intent. Listeners will gain insight into my creative process, the inspiration behind the poem, and the ways I experiment with structure and voice to bring poetry to life.

analysis of my poem "rain"

#analysis #poetry #writing an analysis of my poem "rain" JAIME DAVID (reflection/analysis): Looking back on this poem… I feel like this was me just venting in a poetic way—but also trying to make sense of something bigger. The weather had changed, and it was frustrating, but also kind of eerie. It’s written in prose, but it has rhythm. There’s repetition—“constant showers, constant downpours”—and you can hear the tension building in the way I stack those lines. I didn’t fully realize it at the time, but that build-up mirrors the emotional fatigue of seeing gray skies every day. There’s a lot of contrast too: memory vs. present, stability vs. chaos, what New York used to be vs. what it was becoming. And that’s not just about weather—it’s about identity. Like the city I thought I knew was shifting under my feet. JAIME DAVID (societal connection): Now, the part that stands out most to me now is the mention of climate change. This was 2019, but even back then, I ...
